The Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) collection program helps businesses dispose of small amounts of hazardous waste, such as solvents, paints, used oil and fuels.

  • A VSQG generates 220 pounds (22.5 gallons) or less of hazardous waste per month.
  • Participants self-haul their waste. This is not a pickup program.
  • This program is managed by Ramsey County and operated by Bay West.

Eligible businesses

  • Must be located in Ramsey County, AND
  • Must be licensed (or in the process of being licensed) as a VSQG, OR
  • Doing a one-time cleanout of less than 2,200 pounds (220 gallons) of hazardous waste. If you've had a one-time license before, you will need an annual license instead. A one-time license can be used only once.

How to use this program

  1. Review disposal costs listed below.
  2. Complete a VSQG collection form.
  3. Email it to [email protected].
  4. After reviewing, Bay West will contact you to set up an appointment.
  5. Drop off your waste (follow transportation guidelines) at your appointment time.
  6. Save disposal documentation provided by Bay West for your records.
  7. You'll receive a bill via email from Ramsey County. Pay it within 30 days of receipt.

Hours

Waste is accepted by appointment only during the following times:

April - November

  • Tuesday - Friday: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

December - March

  • Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Limited weekday appointments available.

Closed: Mondays, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
