Board of commissioners declares June as Pride Month in Ramsey County

Commissioner Reinhardt and county staff accepting proclamation.

The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners declared June 2021 as Pride Month in Ramsey County at its June 15 meeting. The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two spirit - or LGBTQ2S+ - communities of Ramsey County are an important and vital part of our cities and neighborhoods.

The month of June was designated as Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall Riots of June 1969, which are recognized as the start of the LGBTQ2S+ rights movement, and numerous events have been organized around the country to commemorate that event.

Commissioner Reinhardt read the proclamation. Social Services county staff advocate Tony Porter and staff member Brian Theine offered remarks.
