The area within Ramsey County is located on American Indian ancestral and contemporary land that was and continues to be home to American Indian people.

Native American Heritage Month is a time to educate the broader public of American Indian past and present experiences involving colonization, genocide, violence, oppression and relocation. It is also a time to celebrate American Indian culture, history, resilience and contributions to the overall Ramsey County community.

The board of commissioners encourages all residents of the county to join in recognizing and celebrating the contributions and the important presence of the American Indian communities in Ramsey County.
