Disposal

Books that cannot be reused or recycled may be placed in the trash.

Books that light up or play music do not belong in the trash or recycling bin because the battery inside may be toxic. Bring them to the household hazardous waste collection sites for free.

Recycle

Most recycling haulers accept paperback books. Remove plastic bindings or plastic covers and put them in the trash.

Contact your hauler to see if they accept hardcover books.
