Breast pumps can be put in the trash. Remove and recycle the batteries first.

Because breast pumps come in contact with bodily fluids, the FDA recommends only specially designed pumps are reused. Pumps designed to be reused have accessory kits with new breast shields and tubing for each user or have components that can be sterilized.
