Commissioners sworn in, elect leadership for 2017

Three of Ramsey County’s seven commissioners were sworn in Jan. 3 at a ceremony at Saint Paul City Hall – Ramsey County Courthouse.

Blake Huffman was re-elected to serve as commissioner for District 1 representing the communities of Arden Hills, Gem Lake, North Oaks, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Township and parts of Mounds View, Spring Lake Park and Blaine. Commissioner Huffman was joined by his family as he was sworn in by Second District Judge Robyn Millenacker.

Mary Jo McGuire was re-elected to serve as commissioner for District 2 representing the communities of Lauderdale, Little Canada, Mounds View (Precinct 4), New Brighton, Roseville and St. Anthony (Ramsey County portion). Commissioner McGuire was joined by her mother as she was sworn in by Second District Judge Shawn Bartsh.

Victoria Reinhardt was re-elected to serve as commissioner for District 7 representing the communities of Maplewood, North Saint Paul, White Bear Lake and the Hillcrest area of Saint Paul (Ward 6 Precinct 12). Commissioner Reinhardt was joined by her family as she was sworn in by Second District Chief Judge John Guthmann.

The board of commissioners re-elected Victoria Reinhardt as chair of the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners and Commissioner Janice Rettman vice chair for 2017. Commissioner Blake Huffman was re-elected chair of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority and Commissioner Rafael E. Ortega was re-elected chair of the Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority. The board also approved appointments to standing committees and outside boards and committees for 2017.
