Commissioners take oath of office, McDonough elected board chair for 2019

Ramsey County commissioners Toni Carter (District 4), Trista MatasCastillo (District 3), Jim McDonough (District 6) and Rafael Ortega (District 5) took the oath of office for their 2019-2022 terms during the Jan. 8, 2019 board of commissioners meeting.

The board elected Commissioner McDonough as Chair of the Board for 2019. McDonough also served as chair in 2018 and from 2014-2015 and 2002-2003. Commissioner Mary Jo McGuire (District 2) was elected to serve as vice chair.

Commissioner Ortega was elected to continue serving as chair of the Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority. Commissioner Blake Huffman (District 1) was elected to continue serving as chair of the Ramsey County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

The seven-member board voted unanimously for each of the appointments.

County Attorney John Choi also took the oath of office for his 2019-2022 term during the Jan. 8 board meeting.

Sheriff Bob Fletcher shared remarks and was joined by his command staff at the Jan. 8 meeting.
