County Manager O'Connor honored as one of '40 Under 40' award winners

County Manager Ryan O'Connor was honored on March 21 at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's 40 under 40 awards reception at The Depot in Minneapolis. At 35, O'Connor is one of the country's youngest managers for a large, urban county. He was hired as County Manager in July 2018

O'Connor was honored for leading reforms to and investments in health care delivery in the correctional system, as well as positioning the county to provide support to immigrant and refugee communities. He was recognized for his initiation of the Talent, Attraction, Retention and Promotion program, and work on the county's strategic priorities.

O'Connor has built and maintained relationships with many community organizations and individuals, which have helped create mutual opportunities. He is a member of numerous county-management associations and a participant in the Itasca Group's Regional Diversity and Inclusion CEO Cohort. He is also the county's representative to Generation Next, which works with different governments and nonprofits to support students.
