Teen Tech Camps

Join other teens in the community at The Brain Box in the library. This three-day camp brings you hands-on experience with technology. Topics include: 3D printing and design, circuitry, robotics, coding, video game design and digital music editing.


Mad Science of Minnesota: Chem in a Flash

Wednesday, March 15
RCL - White Bear Lake
2 p.m. - Grades K-2
3:30 p.m. - Grades 3-6

Hop on board the chemistry express for a high-speed science experience! Perform instantaneous experiments in this fast-paced class on split-second reactions that go like mad.


Spring Break LEGO® Contest

Friday, March 17
Noon - 4 p.m. (drop-off from noon – 2 p.m., winners announced at 4:15 p.m.)
RCL - Maplewood
Appropriate for ages 4 - 12.

Build and bring in your own original LEGO® structure. Awards will be given based on originality and votes from the public. Participants may use all types of LEGOs or other brand of interlocking blocks.

Mad Science of Minnesota: Movie Effects

Tuesday, March 21
1:30 p.m.
RCL - New Brighton
Appropriate for ages 5 - 10.

Learn how “persistence of vision” makes movies so realistic. Discover how sound effects are created and used. Try out some cool anaglyph glasses. Take a closer look at how animation works, then take home your own Cartoon Creator with a mini flip book and mini stencil to create your own short animated movie.


Brains at the Library

Tuesday, March 21

RCL - Shoreview
Appropriate for ages 8 & up.

How heavy is your brain? Can you trick it? What does a neurologist do? Drop in and find out all of these things and more! Play brain games, take a scavenger hunt, test your memory and see real brains from the University of Minnesota's Neurology Department.
