February proclaimed Black History Month
At their Feb. 9 meeting, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners proclaimed February as Black History Month.
The theme for the 2021 Ramsey County and City of Saint Paul Black History Month observance is “Recognizing the Black Family."
In the proclamation, which was read by Commissioner Ortega, the board urged all county employees and residents to honor, celebrate and support Black families as they hold deep roots of wisdom, progress and resilience. The proclamation was accepted by Racial & Health Equity Administrators Prince Corbett and Sara Hollie, and Black History Planning Co-Chair Arlene Hubbard.
Black History Month virtual events
This year's city-county programming series celebrates family traditions and highlights the shared history of many Black people in the United States, the local businesses that support these communities, and the intimate conversations Black parents have with their children.
The free events are being held from noon-1 p.m. on Fridays in February.
