Celebrate the holiday season at Union Depot!

Union Depot will again host a variety of holiday-themed events again this year throughout the month of December.

Holiday Tree Lighting

The annual Holiday Tree Lighting will be held at Union Depot on Dec. 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The evening will include music and entertainment in the Head House. At 7 p.m., attendees will move outside to the North Plaza for the tree lighting celebration and short fireworks display.

Holiday Bake Sale

Shop the top Twin Cities bakeries at Union Depot on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tickets for regular and VIP admission are available. VIP admission includes a commemorative bakery box and oven mitt, recipe cards and coupons/offers from participating bakeries.

New this year is a holiday cake walk sponsored by the Germanic American Institute that occurs every half hour. Prizes include handmade old world German cakes and tortes.

Other events

The Holiday Movie Night will be held on Friday, Dec. 1 following the tree lighting ceremony. The movie Elf will be played on a large screen in the Waiting Room. This event is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Concessions will be available for purchase. All proceeds with go to Department of Indian Work, an Interfaith Action organization.

The North Pole Express holiday train will be visiting Union Depot during the afternoons and evenings of Nov. 30 - Dec. 3 and Dec. 7-10.

In early December, the European Christmas Market is returning to Union Depot from December 1-3 and 8-10. Shop for unique and handmade holiday gifts and decorations from local vendors. There will also be opportunities to taste European-inspired food and delicacies. Free entertainment will be provided throughout the day.
