I-35W North MnPASS construction to impact county roads
Construction began in March 2019 on new MnPASS lanes on I-35W between County Road C in Roseville and Lexington Avenue in Blaine. MnDOT is installing the lanes to help reduce current and future congestion on I-35W.
Starting April 16, one lane of southbound I-35W will be closed between Highway 96 and County Road E2. The lane closure will last through November.
Construction is expected to last through the fall of 2021.
Impact on county roads
During construction, travelers should prepare for increased traffic on county roads near the project area due to detours and closures on I-35W. Temporary traffic control measures will also be in place on county roads during construction.
As of April 8, the left turn lane from southbound Snelling Avenue onto Hamline Avenue is permanently closed. A barrier will be installed at the intersection to prevent vehicles from turning.
Extra traffic is expected on Snelling Avenue throughout the summer.
