I-94 closure between Highway 280 and I-35E April 3-6

I-94 in Saint Paul will be closed April 3-6 between Highway 280 and I-35E for work on the Dale Street reconstruction project.

All I-94 entrance and exit ramps between Highway 280 and I-35E will also be closed - including those at Cretin Avenue/Vandalia Street, Snelling Avenue, Pascal Street, Hamline Avenue, Lexington Parkway and Marion Street.

I-94 will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, April 6.

Dale Street – including the bridge over I-94 – will remain open.

Bridge removal and overnight work

During the closure, crews will remove the east side of the existing Dale Street bridge over I-94.

There will be loud hammering, beeping and other typical construction sounds overnight and throughout the weekend.

Detours

Eastbound motorists will be detoured on northbound Highway 280 to eastbound Highway 36 to southbound I-35E to I-94.

Westbound motorists will be detoured on northbound I-35E to westbound Highway 36 to Southbound Highway 280 to I-94.

Motorists should plan ahead for additional travel time and use an alternate route when possible.

Dale Street lane reductions

Beginning Monday, March 30, Dale Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Carroll Avenue and University Avenue. All traffic will shift to the west side of the road. The median on Dale Street near University Avenue will be removed the week of March 30 to accommodate the traffic change.

Dale Street and the bridge will remain open to two-way traffic throughout 2020.
