I-94 ramps at Dale Street close March 23 for bridge reconstruction
Work begins this month to rebuild Dale Street between Iglehart and University avenues in Saint Paul. Several closures and traffic changes will begin in late March to prepare for construction.
The majority of construction, including the new bridge over I-94, is expected to be complete by late fall. Work will resume in summer 2021 to finish the reconstruction of Dale Street between Iglehart and Carroll avenues.
I-94 ramp closures begin Monday, March 23
All ramps to and from I-94 at Dale Street will close to traffic beginning Monday, March 23 at 6 a.m. The ramps are expected to remain closed through late fall.
Detours
Motorists should follow the signed detours using Lexington Parkway and University and Selby avenues.
Dale Street reduced to one lane in each direction
Dale Street and the bridge will remain open to two-way traffic throughout 2020.
Beginning March 23, Dale Street traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Concordia Avenue and St. Anthony Avenue. All traffic will shift to the west side of the bridge so crews can demolish and rebuild the east side of the bridge.
The lane reductions and traffic shifts will extend between Carroll Avenue and University Avenue beginning the week of March 30.
Pedestrian crossing lights
The traffic signals at Concordia Avenue and St. Anthony Avenue will be set to allow north and southbound traffic to move through the area safely. Pedestrians should use the push buttons to stop traffic and safely cross Dale Street.
Concordia Avenue and St. Anthony Avenue converted to two-way streets, intersections close
Beginning March 23, portions of St. Anthony and Concordia avenues will be temporarily converted from one-way to two-way streets including:
- St. Anthony Avenue between St. Albans Street and Dale Street and between Dale Street and Kent Street.
- Concordia Avenue between St. Albans Street and Dale Street and between Benjamin E. Mays IB World School and Western Avenue.
The St. Anthony Avenue and Concordia Avenue intersections at Dale Street will close to east-west traffic. The closures will remain in place through late fall.
