Title: Putting the Fairness into Fair Campaign Practices
Speakers: Judge Eric Lipman is an Administrative Law Judge with the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings.
Description: As Election Day approaches, hotly contested campaigns for office can often result in legal disputes between competing candidates. When supporters of one or both candidates cries "foul," Minnesota has special procedures for resolving those disputes quickly, so the campaign teams can get out of court and back on to the campaign trail.
In this not-to-miss noon-time CLE, Judge Eric Lipman of the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), will touch on the development of Minnesota's approach to resolving election-related disputes, the feature of OAH's special "rocket docket" and the constitutional limitations on judges addressing issues related to campaign practices.
