The library in Maplewood to close for renovation

Starting December 5, the library in Maplewood will close for an interior renovation. Work is expected to continue into the fall of 2023.

The Maplewood Renovation Project was initiated to help resolve current issues affecting use, comfort and service for the Library such as acoustics, sightlines, collection area locations, location of lobby and security gates and broader use of the main lobby. Built in 2007, an average of 144,000 visitors use this popular county building annually. Beyond the normal wear and tear, the finishes and the furniture in the library are outdated as well. Interior designs were drafted in March 2022 using the feedback from the community engagement process. Features in the new library spaces will include improved acoustics, increased number of study and meeting spaces, improved lighting and more comfortable seating.

On December 5, the Maplewood library lobby will be available for the following services:

  • Career Lab services on Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. through December 15.
  • Library hold pickups from Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. through December 30.
  • The Service Center will continue to provide services through January 6.
