Oct. 8 proclaimed Find Foster Families Day
This year there are more than 9,900 children in foster care on any given day in Minnesota, up 12 percent from 2017. To raise awareness for the growing need of loving foster families, Gov. Mark Dayton has declared Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 Find Foster Families Day in Minnesota.
Foster parents who open their hearts and homes to support children in crisis play a vital role in providing safe, strong foundations for children. They help ensure their physical and emotional needs are met, as well as promote proper growth and development. Every child deserves a family, a place to belong, and to be loved.
In partnership with Adoption is Love Fund, adoption agencies and counties around the state, Ramsey County will be participating in a statewide movement to find more foster families for children in crisis. Ramsey County will be holding an information session at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Community Action Building in Saint Paul to educate residents about how to become foster parents.
