Parks & Recreation seeks community input on park rules

The Ramsey County park ordinance promotes the safety, health, enjoyment and welfare of everyone in their use of the park, and also serves to protect park property and resources. Last amended in 2007, the county is rewriting the park ordinance to make it more equitable, fair and modern.

Community engagement

Parks & Recreation is gathering community input and feedback throughout this process, with a special focus on:

  • Park hours.
  • Tobacco use in parks.
  • Alternatives to the current fines and penalties for ordinance violations.

Residents will also have an opportunity to comment on draft changes to other sections of the ordinance.

Survey

Provide feedback on the park ordinance through a short online survey.

Community conversations

Participate in an upcoming virtual community conversation, focused on options developed for the three key topics of: Park hours, tobacco use in parks, and ordinance violation fines and penalties. Two dates and times are being offered to provide flexibility for residents to attend and participate – the same questions will be discussed at both virtual meeting sessions.
