Plastic Containers

Recycle

Place plastic bottles, containers and jugs (less than about 3 gallons in size) with a recycling number 1, 2 or 5 in your curbside recycling bin. Empty, rinse and cap all containers.

The following items do not belong in your curbside recycling bin:

• Plastic bags.
• Black plastic (because the equipment can't sort it).
• Styrofoam.
• Plastic containers that contained hazardous waste.
• Large plastic items, like laundry baskets, storage bins, 5-gallon buckets, etc. They jam the sorting machines at recycling facilities. Put them in the trash instead.
