Ramp closures at I-694/Rice Street interchange begin March 18
Work begins March 18 on reconstructing the I-694/Rice Street interchange in Shoreview, Little Canada and Vadnais Heights.
This multi-year project will involve several closures and detours in 2019 and 2020.
Beginning March 18, the eastbound I-694 ramp to Rice Street and westbound I-694 ramp from Rice Street will be closed for approximately five months. Detours will be posted.
Eastbound I-694 ramp to Rice Street
Traffic will be detoured east on I-694 to I-35E south to Little Canada Road, then north on I-35E to I-694 west to Rice Street.
Local traffic can also exit west on Little Canada Road to Rice Street.
Westbound I-694 ramp from Rice Street
Traffic will be detoured north on Rice Street to west on Gramsie Road to south on Victoria Street to the I-694 westbound ramp.
Local traffic south of I-694 can also take Rice Street south to east on Little Canada Road to I-35E north to I-694 westbound.
Rice Street lane shifts begin April 1
Rice Street will remain open to two-way traffic throughout the project.
Starting April 1, all traffic from from North Owasso Boulevard to Vadnais Boulevard will shift to the east half of the road with one lane open in each direction. The west half will be closed for construction.
