Ridgewood Apartments Improves Recycling for Tenants

By law, all apartments, condos and other multi-unit dwellings must provide recycling services to tenants. Importantly, a good recycling program can save property managers money with fewer trash pickups.

Recently, property managers at Ridgewood Apartments, a 100-unit apartment complex in Saint Paul, wanted to improve their recycling efforts. They contacted BizRecycling and were given a free 30-minute waste assessment by Waste Wise, which is a service of business-to-business recycling experts. Waste Wise helped Ridgewood Apartments apply for and receive a grant from BizRecycling to expand its recycling and garbage enclosure. It also received reusable recycling totes for every unit, labels for dumpsters and new recycling containers for the common areas. Ridgewood Apartments was able to improve its recycling infrastructure and create a successful recycling program for its residents onsite.

Through BizRecycling, Ramsey County and Washington County offer free resources for property owners and managers of multi-unit dwellings to start, expand and improve recycling. Grants of up to $20,000 per property are available to help you put your business recycling plans into action.
