Sheriff’s Office seeking information on ATM skimmer device suspects

The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a pair of individuals suspected of placing a skimming device at a credit union ATM in Shoreview. The device was placed in late September and has helped criminals steal several thousand dollars.

If you have information about the suspects, please contact investigator Tim Picha at 651-266-7320.

Surveillance images of the suspects can be viewed on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. Images show the suspects in a red Ford Windstar van.

Skimmer devices are attached to ATMs and other card readers by criminals to collect credit and debit card information. Criminals sell the information or use it to create fake cards to access a victim’s bank account.

To protect yourself against skimmer devices, use ATMs located inside banks and other buildings whenever possible. Visually inspect any card reader located outside before using it to make sure the card opening is flush. Always cover your hand when entering PIN numbers to shield the information from pinhole cameras.
