It is estimated that each suicide intimately affects at least six people. It is tragic for immediate family and friends, and people who know the victims -- the grief caused by suicide cannot be underestimated or ignored.
Rising suicide rates have become a significant concern for every part of our society. Public Health and Social Services are fully committed to understanding and preventing suicide and suicide-related behaviors. With that goal in mind, the two departments are jointly hosting listening sessions to hear from community providers and members about their experiences with current suicide prevention resources, needs, partnerships, support, and ideas about how to spread community awareness.
A light meal will be provided.
