Visitors to Union Depot in Lowertown now have a new dining option. Union Depot Bar & Grill opened in the historic Head House at Union Depot on June 27 and features innovative twists on American cuisine. The new restaurant is operated by Kaskaid Hospitality, owner and operator of CRAVE American Kitchen & Sushi Bar and several other dining concepts throughout Minnesota. Crave Catering, part of the Kaskaid Hospitality entities, is now the exclusive caterer for public and private events held at Union Depot.

The freshly renovated restaurant space in the historic Union Depot station features American fare, in a setting depicting the heyday of train travel, complete with restored ticket windows and new mezzanine dining areas offering private seating with grand views of the refurbished landmark site. A few menu highlights include seared salmon served over a smoked paprika aioli, steak frites paired with a delectable bearnaise sauce, and a grilled chicken caprese sandwich. Union Depot Bar & Grill is the perfect stop before or after enjoying the many entertainment options in Lowertown, or for a leisurely lunch or dinner amid the grandeur of the magnificent Union Depot.

Bee Line Honey, harvested from hives on the rooftop of Union Depot, is featured in two signature menu items – the apple cider vinaigrette served with the Union Salad (a medley of field greens, cherry tomatoes and goat cheese) and in the Bee’s Knees cocktail which is comprised of gin, honey syrup and lemon juice.

“Local residents, area employees and travelers will be delighted to welcome Union Depot Bar & Grill to our Lowertown Saint Paul neighborhood,” said Rafael E. Ortega, chair, Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority, which owns Union Depot. “Enjoying a delicious meal in our historic landmark building will be a highlight for special occasions, after work-gatherings or business lunches. And for our guests hosting private events such as weddings, galas and meetings, having a top-notch caterer working on-site will be a big benefit. This is an excellent addition to our transportation and event hub!”

"We at Kaskaid Hospitality are very proud to open a restaurant in such a beautiful and historic venue,” said Kam Talebi, CEO and co-founder of Kaskaid Hospitality. “Union Depot Bar & Grill is our first location within St. Paul and we've been overwhelmed by the welcoming spirit of everyone at Union Depot and Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority. We look forward to serving our guests in our new home, Saint. Paul."

Union Depot Bar & Grill offers full lunch and dinner service, as well as grab-and-go offerings. Brunch service may be added in the future, as well as outdoor seating on the east end of the North Plaza during warm weather months.
