Westbound I-694 exit ramp to Rice Street closing June 29
The exit ramp from westbound I-694 to Rice Street will close to traffic beginning Monday, June 29 at 6 a.m. as part of ongoing work on the I-694/Rice Street interchange reconstruction project.
The closure is necessary to pour concrete pavement for the ramp and complete remaining construction tasks. Cold and wet weather conditions last fall prevented the pouring of concrete, and the ramp was temporarily paved with asphalt to allow the ramp to open to traffic during the winter and spring.
The closure is expected to last through late summer. The construction project is on track to finish late this summer or early fall.
Reconstruction of the I-694/Rice Street interchange began in March 2019 and is expected to last through late 2020. The project will improve traffic flow in the interchange and create better pedestrian and bike facilities along Rice Street.
Detour
A signed detour will be in place using westbound I-694 to the Victoria Street exit ramp, then back on eastbound I-694 to the Rice Street exit ramp.
