Work begins on Maryland Ave 4-to-3 lane test project May 19

Existing road stripes between Greenbrier Street and Johnson Parkway will be removed on Friday, May 19. Restriping the road to three lanes and the addition of medians at Greenbrier and Duluth streets will take place the week of May 22, weather permitting.

The addition of medians at Greenbrier and Duluth streets will eliminate crossing Maryland Avenue at these intersections. Left turns will not be possible from Maryland Avenue to Greenbrier and Duluth streets.

The road work will result in lane shifts and travel delays. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead to allow enough travel time.

There are no changes to Metro Transit bus stops at this time.

Please use caution along roadways where workers are making repairs and improvements. Follow lane changes and look out for pedestrians, especially children and seniors, and bicyclists near construction zones.

Ramsey County is evaluating this three lane configuration ahead of a planned resurfacing this summer. Impacts monitored and evaluated will include pedestrian crossings, bus delays and traffic speed and volume.
