Young Adult Employment Program

The young adult program provides employment and training opportunities to low-income and/or at-risk young adults. Services provided by vendors include career planning, job search assistance, paid work experience and assistance with tuition costs.

Eligibility

The young adult program is open to individuals who:

• Are 14-24 years old.
• Live in Ramsey County.
• Have a challenge to overcome to complete their education and/or obtain employment.

Services

• Explore your future career opportunities.
• Learn about potential employment trainings.
• Experience work in a setting of your choice while getting paid.
• Job search help (resumes, interviews, networking, etc.).
• Earn your High School Diploma or GED.
• Attend free workshops.
• Plan out your educational pathway.

Vendors

Change Inc. 

Change Inc. provides community-based education and training to young people who have dropped out, at-risk of dropping out or are immigrants and refugees. Change Inc.’s programming includes GAP school, education and enrichment, youth employment and training (including internships and work experiences) and social-emotional supports.

Face to Face Health & Counseling Services, Inc. 

Face to Face provides a variety of supports and services for youth and young adults who have/are experiencing homelessness. Face to Face Career Services will provide individualized career coaching, internships, job shadowing, tutoring & educational supports, youth leadership opportunities and workshops to teach professionalism, entrepreneurial skills and financial literacy.

Goodwill-Easter Seals of Minnesota - YouthBuild 

Goodwill-Easter Seals provides training and career supports to young people interested in the construction/skilled-trades sector. The programming will include a formal construction training course that will provide participants with both classroom and hands-on instructions, and with paid work experience. Additionally, young people will receive customized career counseling and supports to ensure their success in the training program.

Hired - Hired provides individualized career coaching, strategic support services, career readiness and digital and financial skill building. Youth will gain valuable experience through paid internships, growing professional & personal networks, increasing job and leadership skills, and engage in on-the-job experience to successfully launch into high demand careers.

Hmong American Partnership - Youth Job Skills HAP provides a variety of supports and services to Hmong, Southeast Asian and broader immigrant and refugee populations in Ramsey County. The Youth Job Skills programs supports young people with individualized career counseling to obtain technical, occupational, workplace and academic skills that lead to employment in high-demand industries.

Restoration for All, Inc. - Project FUSION 

Project FUSION provides African immigrant girls and young women with positive education and career support to enter Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations. The program includes individualized goal planning & support, STEM career training, essential life skills empowerment, financial literacy education,  emerging entrepreneurship workshops and adult mentorship to young women and girls.

Tree Trust - Summer Youth Employment Program 

Tree Trust provides summer employment and support opportunities to young people interested in exploring the green industry and other skilled trade careers. Participants will receive paid, hand-on experience working on outdoor construction, landscape projects or in local business internships. Additionally, Tree Trust provides mentorship and other workplace skills that are transferable to other industries and areas.

Urban Boatbuilders 

Urban Boatbuilders provides youth and young adults with supports to help them gain technical, social-emotional and career readiness skills that will prepare them to pursue their academic and career goals. This includes career coaching and mentorship, paid employment, and hands-on, experiential learning through woodworking (building a boat). Additionally young people receive a variety of career exploration and life skills activities that include tours, speakers and more.
