Discoverers day camps are offered to children entering 1st or 2nd grade, unless otherwise noted.
Discoverers camps are held Monday-Thursday with a full day and half day option.  
$99 for a four-day camp session, 1 - 4 p.m.
$199 for a four-day camp session, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Explorer’s Club

June 17 - 20
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Explore, explore, explore! Let your curiosity guide you through all of Tamarack’s nooks and crannies. Will you find fascinating fungus, spectacular spirogyra or even pretty produce? Round out the week exploring Tony Schmidt Regional Park by foot and canoe! Drop-off and pick-up will be at Tony Schmidt Regional Park on Wednesday, June 19.​ 

Animal Superheroes

Extended ages camp

What can cut through trees, breathe underwater and fly through the sky? Your favorite animal superheroes! Explore the world through compound eyes, study creatures up close and master a super-skill obstacle course. Discover your own superpowers to become a Superhero-In-Training.

Nature’s Magic

June 24 - 27
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Magic is the name of the game here at Tamarack! Learn about magical metamorphosis, fascinating foliage and enchanting entomology. Mix everyday ingredients to make incredible experiments and master magical illusions to wow your friends.

Forestland Adventure

Extended ages camp

Have fun in our forest. Build with sticks and find you inner explorer. Learn the trees that make each forest unique and learn about the animals and birds that make them home.

Swamp Stomp

July 8 - 11
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

Bring your boots, we’re going in! Into the swamp, that is. Here is your chance to stomp through the muck, dig worms, catch polliwogs and taste cattails. You’ll explore Tamarack’s wetlands and the critters that live there. Imagine what you’ll find!

Creepy Crawly Camp

Bugs and other creepy crawlies come in all shapes and sizes. Meet some of nature’s chirpers, hoppers and buzzers as we scour every habitat and get up close and personal with these fascinating critters.

Ready, Set, Explore!

Extended ages camp

Grab your backpack and field journal, and get ready for adventure. Lead the way on daily discovery hikes to meet plants and animals that call Tamarack home. Create your own spotting scope, join a sing-along, play games and of course.

Tamarack Trail Tamers

July 15 - 18
9 a.m.-  4 p.m. 

With honed survival skills and knowledge, you’re off to explore! Conquer tricky tracks and an obstacle course that tests your animal skills. Master key naturalist skills and you are on your way to becoming a Tamarack Trail Tamer!

Prehistoric Play

Can you believe that dinosaurs lived in Minnesota? Explore prehistoric times and imagine what Tamarack would have been like with dinosaurs roaming the woods. Can you walk like a dinosaur? Roar like a dinosaur? Eat like a dinosaur?

Water, Water Everywhere 

July 22 - 25
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

Water is everywhere and we are going to be as busy as beavers playing in it, experimenting with it and looking for it and playing in it. Have you ever painted with ice, dipped for creatures in the pond or visited Battle Creek Water Works.? Here’s your chance in this jam-packed camp on the wonders of water. Field trip to Waterworks. Transportation will be provided.

Natural Treasures

July 29 - Aug. 1
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

Embark on a treasure hunt as you follow nature’s mystery map: “X” marks the spot on this quest for natural treasures. Decode curious notes, debunk mysteries, and decipher clues until the treasure is found. Each day requires a treasure project to complete the search.

Mammal Mysteries 

July 29 - Aug. 1     
9 a.m. - 4 p.m 

Uncover mysterious Minnesota mammals as we search underground, in the air, in the water and on land for mammals that make Tamarack Nature Center home. Play games to figure out how animals survive and discover the food our furry friends eat.

Prehistoric Play

Harvest Hunters

Aug. 5 - 8     
9 a.m. - 4 p.m 

Search high and low for plants that are unique, tasty, colorful and everything in between. You will harvest plants from the garden and the wild and use them in creative ways. We’ll make garden pizza or milkweed fritters and weave grass structures.

Best of Discoverers

Aug. 12 - 15     
9 a.m. - 4 p.m 

Celebrate the end of summer with a grab bag of camp fun. We’ll keep track of the best, most popular activities and recreate the magic of summer. You never know what’ll make the list, so stay tuned! Drop-off and pick-up with be at Tony Schmidt Regional Park on Wednesday, August, 14.
