Discoverers day camps are offered to children entering 1st or 2nd grade, unless otherwise noted.
Discoverers camps are held Monday-Thursday with a full day and half day option.  
$99 for a four-day camp session, 1 - 4 p.m.
$199 for a four-day camp session, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Ready, Set, Grow!

June 22 - 25

Extended ages camp

How do you make your garden grow? Explore Discovery Hollow Garden and unearth the secrets that make gardens so special. We’ll make seed art, dig in soil and develop your green thumb. Dress to get dirty!

Wild Child

June 22 - 25

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Start a fire, mark a trail and build a shelter as you learn new “wild”erness skills. Tackle tricky tracks, lapping lakes and wandering woods on an obstacle course that tests your animal skills. Drop-off and pickup is at Tony Schmidt Regional Park on Wednesday, June 24.

Animal Superheroes

Extended ages camp

What can cut through trees, breathe underwater and fly through the sky? Animal superheroes! Explore the world through compound eyes, study creatures up-close and master a super-skill obstacle course. Discover your superpowers to become a superhero-in-training.

Spy Kids: Eco Agent

June 29 - July 2 or July 20 - 23

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Ready to become a certified Eco Agent? It’s time to dis­cover new tricks from the animal and human world. We’ll study camouflage, silent prowess and the stealthy senses of animals before adding in new spy skills, like making invisible ink and secret codes.

Prairie Pioneers

July 6 - 9

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

How well would you fare in a world without electricity or plumbing? Could you grow your own food and snag a good deal at the trading post? Rewind the clock this week as we build a wikiup (a lodge consisting of a frame covered with matting or brush​), make candles and learn how to survive off the land like the pioneers that used to call Minnesota home.

Try-ology

July 6 - 9

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Extended ages camp

Decode the mysteries of three “ologies” — geology, archeology and paleontology. Research rocks, excavate an “ancient” dig, and learn the science behind fossilization as you try your hand at uncovering Minnesota’s past.

Backyard BioBlitz

July 13 - 16

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Extended ages camp

How many species of plants, animals and microorganisms can you find in Tamarack’s fields, pond and forest? Prepare for a weeklong field study where you’ll conduct real data collection for Tamarack. Sharpen your science skills by using microscopes, binoculars, dragonfly nets and watching a bird banding demonstration.​​​​

Nature’s Kitchen

Our garden is bursting at the seams! Reap the benefits of Discovery Hollow garden as we make strawberry preserves, fry milkweed fritters and dry fruits for the best tasting trail mix ever. Help us plant a few late bloomers in the garden and bring home some garden creations of your own.

Water You Up To?

July 27 - 30

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Welcome to the amazing world of water. Water can cool you down, warm you up, quench your thirst and take you for a wild ride. Discover the many ways water rules the world and enjoy a wet and wild day at Battle Creek Waterworks water park. Transportation will be provided for all field trips.

Wild for Water

Join us as we go wild for water. Play games, ex­periment with and learn what lives within — you guessed it — water. You'll even get to play with snow in summer.

Dino-Mite!

August 3 - 6

1 - 4 p.m.

Extended ages camp

Can you walk like a Wuerhosaurus? Dine on a Diseratops? Leap like a Leptoceratops ? Go on a trek back in time as we delve into the world of dinosaurs. Learn all about the different types of dinos in this prehistoric camp. You may even meet a present day dino cousin.

Forestland Fantasy

August 3 - 6

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Was that the flutter of fairy wings in the trees? Is that a gnome hiding behind a log? Explore our enchanted forest as we build forts and investigate all the creatures – real or not – that reside within the forest. Who knows what creatures you’ll spy?

A Bug’s Life

August 3 - 6

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Bizarre and beautiful bugs abound at Tamarack. Get up close and personal with insects as we search for their homes in the grass, water and wood. We may even unravel the mystery of a monarch’s life or uncover the secrets of a queen ant’s kingdom.

Best of Discoverers

August 10 - 13

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Celebrate the end of summer with a grab bag of camp fun. We’ll keep track of the best, most popular activities and recreate the magic of summer. Stay tuned, you never know what’s going to make the “best of” list. Drop off and pick up will be at Tony Schmidt Regional Park on Wednesday, August 12.
