Trekkers day camps are offered to children entering 5th or 6th grade, unless otherwise noted.
Trekkers camps are held Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. ​
​All sessions are $199 for a four-day camp session.

June 22 - 25

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Imagine yourself lost ⁠— what do you do? Practice basic survival skills: build a shelter, start a fire, eat wild foods and shoot a bow and arrow. Explore Tamarack Nature Center, Tony Schmidt, Bald Eagle Park and Otter Lake to uncover navigating new spaces in this traveling adventure camp. ​Transportation will be provided for all field trips. Drop-off and pickup is at Tony Schmidt Regional Park on Wednesday, June 24.

CSI: Critter Scene Investigations

June 29 - July 2

Extended ages camp

Grab your investigation gear, because it’s time to probe the secrets of the animal world! View live critters under microscopes, learn what makes Minnesota mammals special, set up experiments to study behavior and play games to understand the challenges animals face. Can you solve the final critter mystery?

Top Garden Chef

July 6 - 9

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Experience everything there is to love about the Tamarack Garden. Perform science experiments, create garden art, dig in the dirt and cook like a gourmet with produce you harvest yourself. Limited only by our imaginations, this week will include a little something for everyone.

Flight, Feathers and Feet: A Raptor Exploration

July 13 - 16

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Extended ages camp

Explore the world of raptors up close, as you meet a new bird daily and discover their awesome adaptations. Learn how they use their feet as survival tools and examine the connection between feathers and flight. Wrap up the week with a visit to the Raptor Center, for activities and a behind-the-scenes tour. Offered in partnership with the University of Minnesota Raptor Center. Transportation will be provided for all field trips.


July 20 - 23

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Here is your chance to become a Junior Assistant Naturalist- In Training. Accomplish camp tasks, lead younger camps' games and learn some of the goals that help a JAN succeed. Have fun while realizing the satisfaction of being a part of the Tamarack team.

Ultimate Adventures

July 27 - 30

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Are you up to the challenge of creating your own ultimate adventure? Learn how to build a shelter, shoot a bow and build a fire. Explore Battle Creek Waterworks water park and uncover adventure possibilities at another Ramsey County park. Transportation will be provided for all field trips.


August 3 - 6

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Extended ages camp

Explore the nooks and crannies of Tamarack from a different perspective. Hike with your camp friends to a new area daily, set up and hang out in a hammock.​

Best of Trekkers & Adventurers

August 10 - 13

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Celebrate the end of summer with a grab bag of camp fun. We’ll keep track of the best, most popular activities and recreate the magic of summer. Stay tuned, you never know what’s going to make the “best of” list. Drop off and pick up will be at Tony Schmidt Regional Park on Wednesday, August 12.
