Johnson Parkway Pedestrian Safety Improvements
The intersection at Johnson Parkway and Ames Avenue was redesigned to improve pedestrian safety in 2017. An improved crosswalk, a pedestrian refuge median and a rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) are installed. The rapid flashing beacon flashes to alert cars to stop after a pedestrian pushes a button to cross the road. The southbound to eastbound left turn lane were eliminated to accommodate the median.
A community meeting was held on Monday, April 17 to:
- Learn about recommended safety improvements for pedestrians crossing at Johnson Pkwy & Ames Ave
- See photos and drawings of recommended safety improvements
- Participate in an open conversation
