Carver Avenue Resurfacing
The surface layer of Carver Avenue between Highway 61 and Century Avenue in Saint Paul and Maplewood will be removed and replaced with new, smooth pavement.
Ground-in, high-durability stripes will be added to the road. This type of road marking requires a 10-day wait between the completion of resurfacing and the installation of the stripes.
Land surveying crews will be working in the project area before, during and immediately after construction.
There will be no cost to property owners for this project.
Work is underway. Paving will continue into late October.
The project is expected to last through mid-November.
The is closed to through traffic. Please use alternate routes when possible.
Driveway access will be maintained.
The project plan includes restriping the road to add one bike lane in each direction from McKnight Road to Century Avenue. As a result, traffic lanes will be one foot narrower. No parking will be permitted on the road.
The road is not wide enough to add bike lanes between Highway 61 and McKnight Road.
The striping changes and new bike lanes reflect the goals of Ramsey County's Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan to make the community walkable and bikable for people of all ages and abilities. Bike lanes will assist in creating a safe transportation system for bicyclists, pedestrians and motorists by providing a separated and designated travel space in the roadway.
