Business and industry partnerships are critical to the work we do. Insights from businesses of all sizes form our local marketplace for job seekers. We are committed to placing each job seeker with the "best fit" employment option for themselves and the employer.

Local businesses partner with Workforce Solutions in many ways, such as:

  • Posting jobs for our job seekers and reviewing candidate profiles on LinkedIn to find job seekers with the right skill set.
  • Providing internships or work experiences.
  • Participating on local workforce boards.
  • Recruiting through our on-site Employer of the Day program.
  • Partnering on training grants to secure a skilled workforce in their industry.
  • Hiring our diverse participants to fill essential roles.

Job Connect and Construction Hiring Connection are communication networks that bring together more than 10,000 job seekers, employers and workforce professionals from more than 200 agencies. In addition to sending out popular weekly power e-mails and job postings, Workforce Solutions offers career exploration sessions focused on jobs in high-demand fields such as manufacturing, IT and healthcare, as well as careers in hospitality and the public sector. Construction Hiring Connection focuses on the high-demand career pathway of construction by participating in job fairs, outreach and other events to help companies find qualified workers and meet diversity hiring goals. In 2016, the placement and retention unit facilitated 120 employer contacts which led to 94 job seeker placements.

One focus of Business Services in 2016 was leading a consortium of Twin Cities public partners to launch a single online certification portal (www.TCSection3.org) for low-income residents wanting to register for employment and training opportunities across eight separate counties and cities. This tool also provides these public partners with an expanded candidate pool.

Deluxe has been in business in its Ramsey County Shoreview location for more than 100 years. While many still think of it as a check printing business, over the last 15 years the $1.9 billion company has diversified to also offer marketing and promotional services for financial institutions and small businesses. The Deluxe workforce has continued to evolve and expand along with their business. In 2016, the Business Services Unit of Workforce Solutions coordinated Meet the Employer events at its North Saint Paul site. Deluxe’s team of Sales Managers and Recruiters were able to meet potential candidates in-person. These visits were highly successful, resulting in ten new hires for Deluxe and permanent, livable wage positions with benefits for these excited new employees.
