Free winter break events at county library and park locations

Take advantage of the happenings at Ramsey County library locations and recreational facilities over winter break!

Ramsey County Library has drop-in activities for kids of all ages. Select activities are listed below.​

Shrinky Dinks - Dec. 27

Supplies provided. Limited to 25 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Appropriate for ages 7-12.

Open Maker and Expanded Teen Maker - Dec. 28

Drop in and learn about the Library's 3D printer, Silhouette Cameo cutting machine, sewing machine, digitization equipment, photo and video editing software, and more.

Snow Sisters Storytime - Dec. 28

The Snow Queen and Snow Princess revisit their icy adventures, with help from the audience and their trusty Royal Historian. Royal attire is welcome! Appropriate for all ages. This event is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Parks & Recreation will offer a number of free winter activities to keep families busy over winter break including:

Open skating

Sharpen your skating skills or just get out on the ice for some exercise! Open skating for all ages is available at Charles M. Schulz Highland Arena and Vadnais Sports Center. 

Open hockey

Special hours will be available at Gustafson-Phalen Area, Harding Arena, Ken Yackel-West Side Arena, Oscar Johnson Arena and Shoreview Arena. Open to ages 18 and under. Full protective gear is required.
