I-694 closure between Snelling Avenue and Rice Street June 28-July 1

June 30 update: I-694 reopened to traffic in both directions early Sunday morning.

Interstate 694 is scheduled to be closed the weekend of June 28-July 1 between Snelling Avenue and Rice Street for work on the I-694/Rice Street interchange reconstruction project. The closure will begin Friday, June 28 at 10 p.m. and includes both east and westbound I-694.

I-694 will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, July 1.

The closure is necessary to allow construction crews to install support beams on the west side of the Rice Street bridge over I-694 and the new eastbound I-694 exit ramp to Rice Street.

Detours

Eastbound motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour of southbound Interstate 35W to eastbound Highway 36 to northbound Interstate 35E, then east on I-694.

Westbound motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour of southbound I-35E to westbound Highway 36 to northbound I-35W, then back to west or eastbound I-694.

Motorists should plan ahead for additional travel time and use an alternate route when possible.
