Keller instructor makes Golf Digest's 'Best Young Teachers in America' list
Jon Reigstad, Keller Golf Course's Director of Instruction, was recognized on Golf Digest's 2021–22 Best Young Teachers in America list. The list honors the nation’s best ‘up and coming’ golf instructors under the age of 40.
Award winners are named every year through a comprehensive evaluation process led by the publication. This year, 178 instructors across the country were selected. Reigstad is one of only two instructors representing Minnesota on the prestigious list.
The recognition is another big accolade to add to Reigstad's growing list of golf achievements. He was also featured on Golf Digest's "2019–2020 Best Teachers by State" list. Reigstad is a PGA-certified instructor and has been teaching golf for more than 17 years. He has been influential in establishing a number of junior golf programs during his time with Ramsey County Parks & Recreation.
Partnering with The First Tee Twin Cities, Reigstad has grown the Keller junior golf program to more than 100 children in just the past five years. He also helped establish an elementary school outreach program which implements a golf unit in physical education classes during the school year, at no cost to the school. A Minnesota License Plate Grant application that he authored awarded the First Tee Twin Cities partnership $5,000 to continue investing in local elementary school golf programs.
He also formed the very popular and unique Keller Boys Golf Academy and Girls Golf Academy, which provide middle school and high school aged kids an opportunity to experience golf in a way that few other programs in Minnesota do. Reigstad said he is particularly excited about the academies because every aspect of the golfing process is included. The academies include private instruction, weekly group instruction and weekly on-course play at Keller.
This golf season, you'll find Reigstad at Keller as he leads a variety of golf lessons and programs for youth and adults.
