New traffic changes begin Oct. 2 at I-694/Rice Street interchange

Two traffic changes will take effect Oct. 2 at the I-694/Rice Street interchange:

• The new entrance ramp from Rice Street to westbound I-694 will open to traffic. The ramp has been closed for construction since March 2019.
• The entrance ramp from Rice Street to eastbound I-694 will close for construction, which is expected to last through summer 2020. Traffic will be detoured via westbound I-694 to Victoria Street, then eastbound on I-694.

Reconstruction of the I-694/Rice Street interchange began in March 2019 and is expected to last through late 2020. The project will improve traffic flow in the interchange and create better pedestrian and bike facilities along Rice Street.
