Ramsey County under excessive heat warning Aug. 22-23

An excessive heat warning is in effect for Ramsey County from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23. A heat advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23  to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24.

 Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Residents should check on relatives, neighbors, seniors and others with health conditions that are vulnerable to extreme heat, to make sure they are staying hydrated and safe.

Cooling spaces in Ramsey County

There are several indoor and outdoor public spaces in Ramsey County that you may visit during the extreme heat to stay cool, including libraries, beaches and pools, and recreation centers.

Temporary cooling space 

Ramsey County’s Housing Stability Department is partnering with Union Gospel Mission to open a temporary cooling space from 3 - 9 p.m. today and tomorrow (Aug. 22 & 23). The cooling space is at Union Gospel Mission’s site at 435 University Ave.East., Saint Paul, MN 55103 - please use the building’s upper doors. This temporary cooling space is open to anyone who needs relief from the heat who is unsheltered, or who has no other access to an air conditioned space.

No transportation provided, please take the bus or light-rail transit.
