Understanding the Service Team model

In 2015, Ramsey County moved to a Service Team Structure. This change allows the county to best capitalize on its strengths and talent in pursuit of the board’s vision of a community where all are valued and thrive.

Service Teams enable us to streamline decision-making, effectively manage change, generate operational efficiencies and offer more consolidation of services to our residents, businesses and visitors. Our teams have been designed around the principle of “Residents First” to leverage the expertise and experience of departmental staff who provide intersecting services.

There are four Service Teams. The Health and Wellness Service Team (HWST) consists of the following departments:

  • Social Services
  • Financial Assistance Service
  • Health and Wellness Administration
  • Public Health
  • Community Corrections
  • Healthcare Services and
  • Veterans Services

The HWST is currently working on streamlining our processes and systems for volunteer programs in our team; our In The Loop newsletter is a part of that effort. Through it we will share information of interest to volunteers across the team, and more importantly, recognize the contributions our volunteers provide to make Ramsey County a community where all are valued and thrive.
