Volunteers needed for annual Point-In-Time count Jan. 26-27

On Jan. 25, Heading Home Ramsey and a team of community partners will be conducting the annual Point-In-Time count, which will help gauge the need for homeless assistance resources in Ramsey County, as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The result of this count will also directly impact the funding dedicated to serving people experiencing homelessness in Ramsey County.

Volunteers are needed on Jan. 26- 27, during the day and evening hours, to anonymously collect general demographic and income information from anyone actively experiencing homelessness. Selected volunteers will conduct brief interviews at various locations throughout the city of Saint Paul and Ramsey County. These locations include local libraries and service centers, where people who are homeless or unsheltered are likely to be during the cold winter months.

Volunteers are needed who:

  • Are comfortable talking to and approaching new people.
  • Are kind, welcoming and sensitive to others’ feelings.
  • Care about people who are homeless in their community.
  • Can attend one of the following training sessions:
    • IN-PERSON Tuesday, Jan. 17, 3:30- 5 p.m., Rondo Community Library.
    • VIRTUAL Wednesday, Jan. 18, 10-11:30 a.m., Microsoft Teams. Link provided after registration.
