Full Description
In honor of American Indian Month, Ramsey County Parks Artists-in-Residence Marlena Myles and Tanáǧidaŋ Tó Wiŋ (Tara Perron / Blue Hummingbird Woman) invite you to a day of healing, renewal, and Indigenous creativity. Together, we’ll welcome Yaŋpá, the spring wind of the East, through ceremony, art, and community connection—grounded in Dakota culture and guided by Indigenous voices.
Morning Ceremony & Nibi Water Walk
The day begins at 8:30 AM with a sacred Nibi Water Walk and Ceremony, led by Sharon Day. We'll gather at the Battle Creek pavilion before walking the 2.5-mile path along Battle Creek to its end at Point Douglas Road. A free shuttle will return walkers to the pavilion. Please park near the waterpark/pavilion area.
Cultural Celebration – Begins at 11 AM
At 11:00 AM, the celebration continues with storytelling, hands-on art, food demonstrations, and activities that weave together Dakota ancestral knowledge and contemporary Indigenous expression. Come feel the winds of a new season as we honor community, culture, and connection.
