Groundbreaking at Rice Creek Commons

The milestone kicks off the first phase of construction on the historic 427-acre site in Arden Hills, which holds an estimated development value of $1 billion.

Applications are open until May 14 for a new round of grants to support innovative public health work, programs and community engagement initiatives that improve health outcomes in racially and ethnically diverse communities. 

The comprehensive report highlights the department’s efforts over the past year to advance equitable development, support small businesses and expand access to safe, stable housing across the county.

Joining the county in 2009, Olson has served in a variety of progressive leadership roles, most recently as interim Community & Economic Development director since February 2024.

The agreement with Ryan Companies for the phased development of Outlot A at Rice Creek Commons moves forward plans for a 10-acre commercial project on the northern portion of the 40-acre site in Arden Hills.
