Aldrich Arena improvements project begins

Ramsey County’s Aldrich Arena will soon see facility upgrades through an improvements project that that begins in July. Construction is expected to last through November 2019. Updates will include renovated family restrooms, LED lighting, and a new roof and fire suppression system.

The parking lot will also see major upgrades, including repaving, lighting enhancements, and an optimized parking lot design that will create more efficient parking for facility visitors. Ramsey County Parks & Recreation has partnered with the Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District to add stormwater management features to the site. The installation of more than 53,000 square feet of rainwater gardens, 70 trees and 700 shrubs will improve the quality and reduce the volume of stormwater runoff that reaches nearby Wakefield Lake.

Building updates will be worked around events that have been scheduled at Aldrich Arena throughout the construction timeline to minimize impact to arena visitors. The parking lot will be completed in multiple phases to allow for event parking.

Built in 1961, Aldrich Arena serves a diverse community, as host to events such as high school league and playoff games, graduation ceremonies, cultural celebrations and gatherings, farmers' markets, concerts, rodeos and more. These project improvements will enhance the overall experience of all visitors.
