Nikki Newman receives employee achievement award
Nikki Newman, a Child Protection Supervisor in Social Services, was presented with an employee achievement award during the Aug. 15 board of commissioners meeting.
As the supervisor of a social work unit, she’s earned a strong reputation for being proactive and completing tasks well before their due date. Nikki is known as someone who teaches just as much as she learns, using her role as a supervisor to lift up her team.
Nikki is always prepared and makes sure her team is prepared as well. She always makes herself available to her team, puts them in position to succeed and encourages them to grow.
To support her team, Nikki started “Targeted Topics” where employees receive training, ask questions, hear from speakers and more to make sure they have the knowledge and information they need to do their jobs well. In team meetings, she is actively involved as a leader, but never micromanages.
Nikki goes above and beyond in her work, supporting not only her unit but colleagues from other units and departments as well.
