Public Health in Public Places

Public Health in Public Places (PHiPP) puts public health nurses and community health workers into community centers and libraries where communities face multiple health barriers. Public health staff work with individuals and communities to educate and support people with health information, screenings, referrals, community connections and education.

Services

Services vary by location. The following types of services are available:

  • Listening to your health concerns.
  • Finding health, dental and mental health providers that are right for you.
  • Looking up various health topics.
  • Explaining what to expect at a healthcare visit.
  • Helping you create a list of questions to ask at your appointment.
  • Helping you understand your health options.
  • Asking questions to understand your health goals.
  • Giving basic health information.
  • Supporting you in making an informed health decision.
  • Taking your blood pressure.
  • Connecting people to a variety of ounty and community resourcs.
