How Cases are Handled Based on Age
Cases involving juvenile offenders are handled differently based upon the age of the child.
- Children Under Age 10: These cases are handled in the child welfare system and the ACE program, which is currently administered by 180 Degrees. For more information, please read Commissioner Reinhardt's newsletter about the ACE program.
- Children Ages 10 to 17: These cases may be prosecuted in juvenile court or, if serious and committed by a child 14 or older, may be transferred to adult court.
