Administrative Citations

Review the information on the citation you received, it will include which ordinance rules were broken, the amount of the fine and options for responding. These response options are:

1. Admit the rules were broken and pay the fine or
2. Request an appeal with a hearing officer

It is important to respond to the citation in one of the ways above. Not responding may result in the administrative citation turning into misdemeanor criminal charges.

When paying online, make sure to have the citation with you to provide the citation number and date issued.

If mailing payment, do not send cash through the mail. Only provide check or money order made to “Ramsey County” and provide the citation number in the memo line.

The hearing officer who hears your case is not a county employee and is a neutral party. They will review information provided by you and the county to decide whether a rule was broken. After requesting an appeal, you will be contacted by the county department that issued your citation with more information about assigning the case to a hearing officer.
