Saint Paul - Ramsey County Public Health Trusted Messenger Initiative

Saint Paul – Ramsey County Public Health is partnering with 16 community organizations to bridge the gap in access to health services and information between the county and its racially, ethnically and culturally diverse residents. This initiative strives to engage individuals and families by increasing awareness and access to public health information, resources and services that meet each of their unique needs. The goal of this initiative is to identify opportunities to increase health equity and to build community engagement in Saint Paul and Ramsey County.

As a part of this collaboration, Trusted Messenger partner organizations address community needs in the following public health areas:

  • Clinical services.
  • Environmental health.
  • Family health.
  • Health protection.
  • Healthy communities.
  • WIC. 

How we work together

Trusted Messenger organizations share Ramsey County health resources and information with community through culturally-appropriate and language-specific outreach strategies. Resources and information are provided based on community-identified needs. Public Health supports the work of Trusted Messengers by offering health experts, supportive services and other health resources in addition to grant funding for each organization. The Trusted Messenger partner organizations in this program include:

Funding

The advancement of racial and health equity and effective community engagement are integral to public health at Saint Paul – Ramsey County. Funding for the Trusted Messenger Initiative: Public Health has been provided by the Minnesota Department of Health Infrastructure Grant. Funding from the Minnesota Department of Health began in April 2022 and will conclude in June 2024.
