Family violence impacts the individuals involved, their families, friends and communities. Family violence can be prevented. Ramsey County works with communities and organizations to help prevent and reduce the likelihood of violence, and promote peaceful, healthy relationships through the following unique approaches: 

The Wakanheza Project 
Principles and strategies for creating welcoming environments by helping individuals, organizations and communities learn how to effectively prevent and de-escalate stressful situations.  

Family Transformation Model 
A model for individuals, practitioners and community systems to use in addressing family violence based on the premise that there are essential elements of “core health” within all people that provide insight into what we all need to live in peaceful relationship with others.
