Board proclaims Jan. 17 as Day of Racial Healing

The board of commissioners has proclaimed Jan. 17 as Day of Racial Healing in Ramsey County in conjunction with others throughout the United States.

Commissioner Reinhardt read the proclamation, which states that the county is committed to advancing racial equity while striving to be an anti-racist organization, and we acknowledge we must all work earnestly to create courageous and supportive environments that address the traumatic past. Racial healing is a vital and crucial commitment to the educational, physical, social and mental well-being of all people.

In recognition of the Day of Racial Healing, Ramsey and Hennepin counties, and the cities of Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Edina and St. Louis Park are hosting a community cross-government event to recognize the National Day of Racial Healing.
