Ramsey County welcomed 35 interns from the city of Saint Paul’s Right Track program

Right Track internsRamsey County welcomed 35 interns from the city of Saint Paul’s Right Track program. This program helps youth and young adults ages 14-21 with professional development and work experiences. Interns will be working within 22 different county departments gaining insight into the functions and operations of local government. The county's internship placements include college-level interns working in areas such as Policy & Planning, Libraries, Mental Health Crisis Services, Urban Farming and Public Health and Community Corrections. In addition, 28 high school interns are gaining experience in departments like Veterans Services, the County Attorney’s Office, Parks and Recreation, Property Management, Public Works, Communications & Public Relations, Finance and Workforce Solutions.

This initiative is part of the county’s broader commitment to building a more diverse and inclusive future workforce while investing in young people and their families. This program addresses changing labor force demographics as well as education and employment disparities by connecting young people from cost-burdened households to internships, training them for personal and professional success, while supporting employers as they prepare for, recruit and mentor the next generation of diverse talent.

In partnership with the city of Saint Paul, Ramsey County has also expanded the Right Track program to include suburban areas, making 40 additional internships available to students in fields such as education, recreation, conservation, county services and culinary arts. Thank you to our local employers for participating in this expansion:

This expansion is made possible through funding from the Minnesota Youth Program, American Rescue Plan Act and our partners. We recognize that internships help young adults discover their passions and interests often guiding them toward fulfilling career paths. In addition, programs such as Right Track provide a chance for us to highlight our work and job opportunities to grow a more diverse workforce.
